Andromeda, the Dog Galaxy?

By Mr. Cloud, October 22, 2021

So we finally got back out in the field to image Andromeda! It was the only clear night this week after tons of rain!

This is me helping mom on astronomy night.

And here’s what the Andromeda Galaxy looks like:

My mom said she was very happy with this image. You can read her blog post about this capture here.

I wonder if there are dogs in that galaxy simultaneously looking through a telescope at the Milky Way wondering if there are dogs in this galaxy too?

Maybe Andromeda is run by dogs like in Planet of the Apes, except it would be Galaxy of the Dogs.

I know we have our own constellation already, Canis Major, and that the brightest winter star, Sirius, is known as the Dog Star.  But it would be cool to have our own galaxy too.

Earlier that day, I humored mom and took this fall photo:

Then we decided to lose the Robert Redford / Jay Gatsby look for something more everyday:

And here I had to chase away one of the delivery drivers in the middle of all of this:

My mom said this was one of her favorite photos:

It’s looking like a lot of cloudy nights ahead, but hopefully we’ll be able to get back out there soon.

Until next time!

Catching up

We’ve been way to busy to have time to write! Last year we enjoyed the great total solar eclipse from our yard! My mom built me a Polar Express train to help me go up the stairs, and we went fall rain camping!

Adventures and Fun

Just a few photos from some of our adventures!

Welcome Spring 2023

After a long winter, spring is finally here! We have been really busy going for hikes, doing astronomy in the backyard, and just enjoying the earth waking up!

Where has the time gone?

Life has been incredibly busy! 2022 just went in a flash. I had a major surgery, celebrated my 10th birthday, and even went swimming. There’s a lot to chronicle but just wanted to say hi for now!

Late Summer / Early Fall

My mom captured an image of the Eagle Nebula with the Pillars of Creation. And I got to inspect a cool ancient tree stump at Letchworth.
